Cancelling Subscriptions

Before cancelling your subscription, consider these alternatives:

If cost is a concern, you might consider:

  • Smaller server size: Reduce RAM and CPU allocation
  • Different location: Some regions may be less expensive
  • Remove add-ons: Disable premium features you don’t need

For temporary breaks:

  • Pause subscription: Keep your data but stop billing
  • Seasonal planning: Schedule automatic suspension/resumption
  • Vacation mode: Temporary server hibernation
  1. Log in to your Game Lords account
  2. Navigate to “My Servers”
  3. Select the server you want to cancel
  4. Click “Manage Subscription”
  5. Choose “Cancel Subscription”
  6. Follow the cancellation wizard
  7. Confirm your cancellation
  1. Go to “Account Settings” > “Billing”
  2. Find the subscription you want to cancel
  3. Click “Manage” next to the subscription
  4. Select “Cancel Subscription”
  5. Complete the cancellation process

  • Server stops immediately
  • No refund for remaining time
  • Data may be deleted within 24-48 hours
  • Choose this for unused or compromised servers
  • Server continues until your next billing date
  • No charges after the current period
  • Full access until subscription expires
  • Recommended option for most users
  • Current billing period: Check when your next payment is due
  • Cancellation deadline: Cancel before the renewal date
  • Data retention: How long files are kept after cancellation
  • Billing stops (unless immediate cancellation)
  • Server continues running until subscription expires
  • No new charges to your payment method
  • Access to control panel remains until expiration
  • Server stops accepting connections
  • All services become unavailable
  • Player access is immediately cut off
  • Console and file access is disabled

Your server data is handled as follows:

First 7 Days

  • Complete server backup is maintained
  • Data can be recovered if you renew
  • No additional charges for data storage
  • Reactivation restores full functionality

After 7 Days

  • Server files are permanently deleted
  • Backups are removed from our systems
  • Data cannot be recovered
  • New subscription creates fresh server

Important: Download any important data before cancellation!

We strongly recommend backing up important data:

  1. Go to “Backups” section
  2. Create a final backup
  3. Download the backup file
  4. Store safely on your local system
  1. Navigate to “Files”
  2. Select important directories
  3. Download individual files or folders
  4. Pay special attention to:
    • World/map files
    • Configuration files
    • Player data
    • Custom content

For large amounts of data:

  1. Connect using FTP client
  2. Download entire server directory
  3. Verify all files transferred successfully
  • World folder: Contains your map data
  • plugins folder: Custom plugins and configurations
  • server.properties: Server configuration
  • ops.json: Operator permissions
  • whitelist.json: Whitelisted players
  • server/rust/cfg: Configuration files
  • server/rust/data: Player and building data
  • oxide: Plugin data and configurations
  • worlds: World save files
  • config: Server configurations
  • BepInEx: Mod data (if applicable)
  • New subscriptions: 48-hour refund window
  • Unused services: Prorated refunds may be available
  • Service issues: Full refund if we cannot resolve problems
  • Accidental purchases: Contact support within 24 hours
  1. Contact support with your request
  2. Provide order/subscription information
  3. Explain reason for refund request
  4. Allow 3-5 business days for processing
  5. Refunds appear on original payment method
  • Services used for more than 48 hours
  • Violations of terms of service
  • Chargebacks or payment disputes
  • Excessive refund requests

  2. Navigate to cancelled subscription
  3. Click “Reactivate”
  4. Complete payment process
  5. Server restores with all previous data
  • Must create new subscription
  • Previous data cannot be recovered
  • Treated as new server setup
  • Previous configurations lost

Instead of cancelling, consider:

  • Transfer to friend: Give server to another player
  • Sell subscription: Transfer billing responsibility
  • Gift remaining time: Share with community members

If you want to try a different game:

  • Game migration: Keep same resources, change game
  • Subscription modification: Adjust for different requirements
  • Multiple servers: Run various games simultaneously

  2. Set up new hosting elsewhere
  3. Migrate players to new server
  4. Cancel Game Lords subscription after migration

  2. Consider downgrading server size
  3. Look into temporary suspension options
  4. Check for available discounts or promotions

Before cancelling due to problems:

  1. Contact technical support
  2. Allow time for issue resolution
  3. Consider service credits for downtime
  4. Explore alternative solutions

For inactive servers:

  1. Enable server hibernation if available
  2. Consider pause/resume options
  3. Set up automatic shutdown schedules
  4. Only cancel if permanently done
